Democratic Rep. Mikie Sherrill and Republican Jack Ciattarelli, a former state legislator, are facing off for the governorship after winning their June primaries. The Donald Trump-endorsed Ciattarelli narrowly lost another run for governor in 2021, while Sherrill first entered politics as part of the anti-Trump wave in the 2018 election. Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy is term-limited.
